BIO

Born in Hawaii in 1988, I am very fortunate to have had an upbringing in paradise. Life growing up was about jumping off waterfalls, bonfires on the beach, surfing all day, diving for shells, and swimming with dolphins. That kind of fortune shaped a very special foundation for myself. Having the beach as my backyard, I learned how to exist in nature. I absorbed all the intricacies, emotions, and moods of the sea. I became attached to the spirit of the ocean. The water became my happy place to slip away to. A place where I could find peace amidst a stressful life on land.

At around three years old I became partially blind, losing sight in my right eye due to an unexplained nerve injury. Dealing with society from a young age became increasingly difficult for me. I felt a sense of disconnection and insignificance in the real world. Then, In my sophomore year of high school, I discovered photography.

I learned how a camera could capture and preserve all the wonderful things that encompassed my lifestyle and relationship with the ocean. Ultimately, photography gave me the ability to self express through creating art. I finally found a voice for myself and the direction I needed in life.

My career as a photographer started to evolve as the years went on. I became successful with selling prints of my work at art shows and festivals. Eventually I transitioned to a full time professional surf photographer. Documenting the wave riding culture I got to work with different magazines and contributed to different brand campaigns, traveling to other countries chasing swells and adventure.

Today, I focus mainly on my roots in photography- a personal pursuit of majestic moments in nature, creating art and sharing that with the world. This journey with a camera by my side has kept me close to all the things that make up who I am and the moments that make life magical. I am forever grateful.
